Chosun University Hospital announced that it has received a Grade 1 rating for the sixth consecutive time in the "6th Pneumonia Appropriateness Assessment" released by the Health Insurance Review and Assessment Service (HIRA) on the 18th.
Pneumonia is a common lung disease caused by microbial infection. However, because its symptoms?such as cough, sputum, chills, and fever?are often mistaken for a cold or influenza, missing the optimal treatment window can lead to worsening of the condition. Therefore, accurate diagnosis and timely treatment are essential.
Since 2014, HIRA has been conducting the pneumonia appropriateness assessment to ensure that patients receive proper medical care and high-quality medical services. The most recent assessment targeted adult patients aged 18 or older who were hospitalized for pneumonia and received antibiotics for three days or more between October 1, 2023, and March of the previous year.
HIRA comprehensively evaluated five assessment indicators?oxygen saturation test implementation rate, use rate of severity assessment tools, sputum culture test prescription rate, blood culture test implementation rate before the first antibiotic administration, and appropriate antibiotic administration rate within eight hours of hospital arrival?as well as four monitoring indicators: length of hospital stay, medical expenses, readmission rate, and mortality rate.
Chosun University Hospital earned a comprehensive score of 98.9 points, significantly surpassing the overall average of 82.9 points, thereby being recognized for excellence in medical services for pneumonia treatment.
