Gwangmyeong City and Seoul National University Dental Hospital Join Forces to Address Gaps in Oral Health Care

Gwangmyeong City in Gyeonggi Province and Seoul National University Dental Hospital have joined forces to address gaps in oral health care for vulnerable groups.

On July 18, Gwangmyeong City and Seoul National University Dental Hospital signed a 'Business Agreement for the Promotion of Public Oral Health Care' at the video conference room of Gwangmyeong City Hall. The signing ceremony was attended by Park Seungwon, Mayor of Gwangmyeong, Lee Yongmoo, Director of Seoul National University Dental Hospital, and Kim Sunyoung, Director of Gwanak Seoul National University Dental Hospital.

This agreement was established to provide oral examinations and preventive treatments by visiting people with disabilities and other vulnerable groups who have difficulty with mobility, and to guide seniors, children, and others on proper oral care methods.

Under the agreement, the two institutions will jointly promote a variety of initiatives, including: operating mobile dental clinics for people with disabilities and low-income groups; providing oral health education to children at elementary schools and local children's centers; and holding oral health lectures for local residents.

Previously, Gwanak Seoul National University Dental Hospital conducted oral examinations, resin treatments, scaling, and oral hygiene education for 33 people with disabilities at the Gwangmyeong Welfare Center for the Disabled last month.

Mayor Park stated, "With this agreement as a starting point, we will work to eliminate gaps in medical care and provide even more comprehensive oral health services." Director Lee also said, "As a public medical institution, it is an important responsibility to create positive changes in the community," adding, "Based on this agreement, we will strive to provide field-oriented mobile care and education."

In addition to this agreement, the city is also steadily implementing oral health management projects for local residents, such as the dental home doctor project for children from low-income families, the Gyeonggi Province dental home doctor project, fluoride application, and scaling.
