Dedicated Counters and Call Center by District to Minimize Citizen Inconvenience
Consumption Coupons Provided Only to Applicants... Application Required
Pohang City will launch a tailored on-site support system to ensure that every citizen can easily and quickly apply for the 'Livelihood Recovery Consumption Coupon,' which will be distributed starting on July 21.
According to the city, it plans to minimize inconvenience for citizens by establishing a swift and systematic system that includes operating a dedicated task force (TF), setting up application counters at town and township offices, providing door-to-door application services, and running a call center.
The dedicated Livelihood Recovery Consumption Coupon TF, led by Deputy Mayor Jang Sanggil, includes relevant departments and representatives from all 29 towns and townships, and oversees the entire process from application to distribution and post-processing.
To make the application process accessible for all citizens, the city has set up dedicated counters at the administrative welfare centers in each of the 29 towns and townships, providing on-site application support during weekday business hours.
Additionally, a 'visiting application counter' will be operated for elderly and disabled residents with mobility difficulties, and 452 life support workers will guide approximately 35,000 seniors living alone on how to apply, ensuring that applications from vulnerable groups are not missed.
A dedicated call center will also be operated to provide prompt and accurate guidance on application procedures, payment amounts, and usage methods.
This consumption coupon will be provided in the form of credit and debit cards, as well as mobile and card-type Pohang Love Gift Certificates, and must be used by November 30.
On-site applications will follow a five-day rotation system based on the last digit of the applicant's birth year. From July 21 to August 2, over a two-week period, applications can be submitted on Mondays (1, 6), Tuesdays (2, 7), Wednesdays (3, 8), Thursdays (4, 9), and Fridays (5, 0), while only online applications will be accepted on weekends.
The first round of payments for Pohang citizens will range from 180,000 won to a maximum of 430,000 won, depending on eligibility. The second round, which will be distributed after September 22, will provide an additional 100,000 won per person to 90% of the population, excluding the top 10% income earners.
However, those who do not apply for the consumption coupon in the first round will be excluded from eligibility and will not be able to apply for the second round, so it is essential to apply within the designated period.
Mayor Lee Kangduk stated, "We hope that this consumption coupon will serve as an opportunity to revitalize the local economy," and added, "Since it is necessary to use the coupons within the period for a faster recovery of the local economy, we will mobilize all administrative resources to ensure that every citizen can apply without omission and use the coupons conveniently."
