Yeongdeok County Holds Countermeasure Meeting with Related Agencies to Prepare for Natural Disasters and Marine Accidents

Establishing a Proactive Response System for Typhoons and Heavy Rainfall
in the Marine and Fisheries Sector

Yeongdeok County in North Gyeongsang Province held a countermeasure meeting with related agencies in the main building's first conference room on July 17, aiming to prevent and strengthen the response system for natural disasters such as typhoons and heavy rainfall, as well as marine accidents.

This meeting was held in accordance with the presidential directive issued on June 5, which emphasized the importance of responding to natural disasters. The purpose was to strengthen prior consultation and cooperation among related agencies and to establish a field-oriented response system.


More than 20 representatives attended the meeting, including Deputy County Governor Moon Seongjun of Yeongdeok County, Uljin Maritime Police Station, Uljin Fishing Vessel Safety Operation Bureau, Ganggu Fisheries Cooperative, Yeongdeok Northern Fisheries Cooperative, Coastal Snow Crab Fishers' Association, Fishing Village Council, and Daewang Octopus Trap Association, to discuss ways to enhance cooperation.


The participants shared suggestions and methods for inter-agency cooperation, and held in-depth discussions on emergency response systems in case of severe weather, vessel evacuation plans, and safety management measures for fishers.


Deputy County Governor Moon Seongjun stated, "In order to minimize damage caused by natural disasters, not only is a preemptive state of preparedness necessary, but also organic cooperation among all agencies is of utmost importance. We will enhance our disaster response capabilities through regular consultations with related agencies and by strengthening our field-oriented response system."
