This meeting was convened as the Emergency Level 1 of the Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters was activated due to the heavy rain advisory issued on the same day. The meeting was presided over by Yoo Jeonggeun, acting mayor of Yeongju City, and attended by directors of bureaus and departments, key heads of offices and divisions, officials from the Yeongju Fire Station, and other relevant departments. The participants focused on discussing practical response measures.
The main response tasks presented at the meeting included: inspecting and taking emergency measures for damage to facilities and areas under the city's jurisdiction; actively operating the town and village patrol teams; and maintaining the emergency contact network among employees and promptly sharing situation updates. In particular, officials emphasized the importance of adhering to the two-person team principle for patrol teams and field staff to prevent safety accidents.
Additionally, the city plans to strengthen its field-oriented response system by reorganizing interdepartmental cooperation structures and flexibly adjusting emergency levels according to the situation, thereby maintaining an organic response system. In the event of a disaster, the city will conduct rapid emergency restoration and damage assessment simultaneously, and will hold additional situation assessment meetings if necessary.
Acting Mayor Yoo Jeonggeun stressed, "As continued heavy rain can lead to unexpected situations, please prioritize the lives and safety of citizens, conduct thorough pre-inspections, and maintain close response systems. Each department should re-examine risk factors in their respective areas and ensure that immediate action is taken in the event of a crisis."
