Dongjak-gu in Seoul (District Mayor Park Ilha) announced on July 18 that it has been distributing self-produced "travel name tags" free of charge since July 14, in order to enhance the quality of passport-related civil services and increase customer satisfaction.
The travel name tag is designed to be attached to bags and suitcases, and features the Dongjak-gu mascots "Dongjaki" and "Gukhwassi." The name tag is provided once per person when collecting a passport at the Integrated Civil Service Office on the 2nd floor of the new Dongjak-gu Office building (70 Jangseungbaegi-ro).
The district explained that the event was planned to allow citizens to feel the excitement of travel from the moment they receive the name tag, symbolizing that "receiving a passport marks the beginning of a journey." The district expects this initiative to contribute to fostering a positive perception of passport-related civil services among residents.
Meanwhile, Dongjak-gu has previously received positive feedback from residents for operating a "priority service desk for passports" for socially disadvantaged groups such as pregnant women, seniors, and people with severe disabilities, as well as for producing and distributing "passport cases." These efforts to improve services have consistently earned high scores in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' "Passport Service Performance Evaluation," rising from 98.94 points last year to 99.91 points this year.
Park Ilha, Mayor of Dongjak-gu, stated, "I hope that the passport and name tag issued at our new, clean office building will mark the start of a precious journey," adding, "We will continue to develop passport-related civil services that meet the needs of our residents and further increase satisfaction."
