1,000 Participants to Be Selected by Lottery
The city of Busan, in collaboration with "15 Minutes to Change the World (Sebasi)," will hold a public lecture under the theme "Busan, Opening the Door to the World" on July 24.
This lecture, scheduled for July 24 at Sohyang Theater Shinhan Card Hall at Dongseo University, will feature a relay of speakers focusing on five key themes that "Global Hub City Busan" aspires to: connection, growth, talent, innovation, and challenge.
The first speaker will be Professor Yoo Hyunjoon, who has gained widespread recognition in the field of urban architecture. Professor Yoo will discuss the conditions of a "city where people want to stay," exploring Busan's spatial potential and creative reinterpretation.
Animation director Jung Yumi will share her experiences of drawing inspiration from Busan's atmosphere and landscapes for her works. Director Jung is the first Korean creator to be invited to the animation section of the Cannes Film Festival.
Chef Kim Jihye of "Piotto," the first restaurant in Busan to receive a Michelin 1-star rating, will talk about her stories of expressing local ingredients and cultural diversity through gastronomy.
Aich Satyavrata, an India-born CEO of an AI startup and visiting professor at the Department of Mechanical and Information Engineering at Pusan National University, will present his vision for Busan as a global city of talent, sharing the challenges and opportunities he encountered while starting a business in Busan.
The final speaker will be Park Yongjun, CEO of Samjin Eomuk, who will discuss the experiences of a local company entering the global market and the unique competitive advantages of Busan.
Through this event, the city of Busan plans to share its vision of becoming a global hub city together with its citizens. Advance registration is available on the official Sebasi website, and 1,000 attendees will be selected by lottery to participate.
Busan Mayor Park Hyungjoon emphasized, "Busan is now leaping beyond Korea to become a center of the world," adding, "I hope this lecture will become an opportunity to share the city's message of connection and growth with our citizens."
