From July 25, Pet Beach to Open at Seagull Square, Daecheon Beach
Enhanced Safety and Hygiene Measures in Place
On July 18, Boryeong City in South Chungcheong Province announced that it will operate a "Pet Beach" area at the Seagull Square section of Daecheon Beach during the 28th Boryeong Mud Festival, which will be held from July 25 to August 10. This special area will allow visitors to enjoy the festival together with their companion animals.
The Pet Beach is being introduced in response to the increasing number of households with companion animals and the resulting demand for pet-friendly tourism. It is also part of the city's efforts to promote Boryeong as a pet-friendly tourism destination.
The city expects that this initiative will increase visitor satisfaction at the beach and attract more tourists to Boryeong.
The designated Pet Beach area will span 80 meters of shoreline in front of the Seagull Square (3rd Watchtower) at Daecheon Beach. It will be open daily from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
To ensure efficient operation, the city will assign four staff members and five temporary workers to the Pet Beach at all times. Convenience facilities, including a Pet Beach information booth and a snack exchange booth, will also be available on-site.
In addition, the city will strictly manage safety and hygiene by enforcing restrictions on five breeds of designated dangerous dogs, guiding and monitoring the use of muzzles and leashes, collecting pet waste and other trash, and regularly disinfecting the sand.
The five restricted breeds are: Tosa, American Pit Bull Terrier, American Staffordshire Terrier, Staffordshire Bull Terrier, and Rottweiler.
Mayor Kim Dongil stated, "As travel culture with companion animals continues to spread, we have decided to operate the Pet Beach again this year. We will do our utmost to ensure that many visitors can create safe and enjoyable memories with their pets."
Meanwhile, the Boryeong Mud Festival is one of Korea's most popular summer festivals, attracting hundreds of thousands of visitors each year. This year, the festival will once again heat up the beach with a variety of mud experience programs, performances, and night events.
