Securing Additional Lanes by Utilizing National and Public Land
Instead of Building New Roads
Yongin City in Gyeonggi Province announced on the 18th that it has completed construction to expand the left-turn lane at Bukri Samgeori in Namsa-eup, Cheoin-gu, from one lane to two lanes.

This road, which connects Osan City with Namsa-eup and Idong-eup in Yongin, has two lanes in both directions, and frequent traffic congestion has occurred in this section as left-turning vehicles and vehicles turning right toward Idong-eup have become mixed together.
To alleviate traffic congestion, the city invested 70 million won from its own budget, began construction in March, and has now completed the project.
This project is noteworthy because it improved traffic flow in a short period and with a small budget by utilizing idle national and public land, rather than constructing a new road.
During the construction process, the city relocated the traffic lights to more visible locations and installed pedestrian crossing signs, thereby enhancing safety for both drivers and pedestrians.
In addition to Bukri Samgeori, the city is currently carrying out traffic system improvement projects at eight other locations this year: Baegam Administrative Welfare Center; 679 Dongbaek-dong and 64-2 Dunjun-ri (installation of a diagonal crosswalk); Kyunghee University Samgeori and Musugyo Samgeori; Myongji Intersection; Hagal Intersection; Bosch Front Intersection; Yangwoonaeane Entrance Samgeori; and demolition of the rotary at Saam in Wonsam-myeon.
Lee Sangil, Mayor of Yongin, stated, "We will continue to identify and improve areas that require upgrades to relieve citizens' traffic inconveniences and ensure their safety."
