Students majoring in Korean Painting at the College of Fine Arts and Design, Mokwon University, had the opportunity to broaden their global perspective through the "Overseas Art and Culture Experience with Professors" program. This program was conducted as part of a scholarship initiative in which university professors participated.

Mokwon University announced on July 17 that a total of 26 students and professors from the Korean Painting major recently participated in a six-night, seven-day program in China, visiting Xiangzhou and Huangshan. The program included on-site sketching (drawing real objects or landscapes as they are), visits to art museums and museums, and explorations of cultural and artistic creation districts.
The participating students captured the breathtaking scenery of China's famous mountains on their canvases, experiencing both the depiction of nature and a deeper understanding of local history and culture.
In particular, during the program in China, alumni who completed their master's or doctoral degrees at Mokwon University and are now working as professors or creative artists at local universities in China joined the event. They introduced the creative environment in China to their juniors and offered advice about artistic activities.
Prior to running this program, professors of the Korean Painting major have, since 2010, signed agreements with hospitals and clinics to lend paintings every month, donating the rental fees as scholarships. In addition, the professors have contributed their own donations to create a designated scholarship fund for the program.
Through these efforts, the Korean Painting major has raised a total of approximately 160 million won in scholarships to date. As a result, 184 students have had the opportunity to participate in overseas art and culture experiences.
Professor Jeong Hwangrae of the Korean Painting major said, "Overseas field experiences greatly help students deepen their creative abilities and expand their artistic inspiration. I am grateful to those who have contributed to the scholarship fund to support the growth of our students. Mokwon University will continue to nurture talented Korean Painting artists and strive to enhance the international status of Korean art through ongoing scholarship initiatives."
