Permanent Fire Safety Experience Center at Wando Fire Station
Receives Positive Response for Fire Response Training
Children from daycare centers and kindergartens in the Wando area of South Jeolla Province are developing their safety awareness by participating in fire response simulation training at the fire safety experience center operated by the Wando Fire Station.
According to the Wando Fire Station on July 17, staff and children from Hanadulsset Kindergarten visited the station that day and took part in its ongoing fire safety education experience program.

The experience center run by the Wando Fire Station was established to provide fire safety education for young children and elementary school students. It features a variety of hands-on content, including a fire response simulator. The center has attracted high interest, with reservations from local institutions filling up its schedule on a regular basis.
The experience program held that day consisted of cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), a fire extinguisher usage simulation, and fire evacuation drills. In particular, the fire extinguisher experience was conducted in a realistic manner by recreating a virtual fire situation on a large screen, with the children using actual fire extinguishers to put out the flames shown on the screen.
A fire safety officer leading the program instructed, "Aim the extinguisher at the building on the screen and press firmly to put out the fire. Don't panic, and respond calmly." Initially, the children were somewhat excited, but soon they became focused and operated the extinguishers calmly, following the explanations of the fire safety officer.
An official from the fire station stated, "It is important for children to develop proper safety habits from an early age," and added, "We will continue to operate experience-based education programs that children can participate in easily and enjoyably."
Meanwhile, Wando Fire Station currently operates fire safety experience centers at a total of four locations: the main Wando Fire Station, Nohwa 119 Regional Unit, Gogeum 119 Safety Center, and Jeollanamdo Youth Training Center. The centers provide year-round experience opportunities for local elementary schools, kindergartens, and daycare centers through advance reservations.
