Some Regions Record Over 40 Degrees for Consecutive Days
Experts Advise: "Stay Well Hydrated"
As sweltering heat continues across various regions in China, videos showing eggs and shrimp being cooked on the streets have gone viral.
On July 16, the Shangyou News reported that some areas are suffering from a heat wave, with temperatures reaching 40 degrees Celsius.

According to Shangyou News, an experiment was conducted in Zhengzhou, Henan Province, where eggs and shrimp were placed on a frying pan and exposed to sunlight for an hour. The thermometer quickly reached 50 degrees, and soon the shrimp began to turn red. Some of the eggs also started to turn white as they cooked. The road temperature soared up to 72 degrees.
One citizen told Shangyou News in an interview, "It has been over 40 degrees for three days in a row, and I can't stand it. Even when I go inside to wash in the evening, only warm water comes out."
Recently, several regions in China?including Shanxi Province, Shaanxi Province, Henan Province, Hubei Province, Chongqing, Sichuan Province, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, and Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region?have been grappling with heat waves as temperatures rise above 40 degrees Celsius.
Sun Qianqian, a Chinese meteorological analyst, explained that the heat wave is caused by the influence of high atmospheric pressure, and predicted that "even if it rains in the coming days, the intense heat will continue." Wei Lu, chief engineer at the Henan Provincial Meteorological Bureau, warned that the ongoing heat wave will increase the risk of acute episodes of chronic illnesses such as heat stroke, cardiovascular disease, and cerebrovascular disease. He emphasized that it is best to stay indoors rather than outdoors from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and to stay well hydrated. He also advised that if symptoms of heat stroke such as dizziness, fatigue, sweating, or a burning sensation of the skin appear, people should take antipyretics immediately, and if symptoms are severe, seek medical attention right away.
