Providing Supplies to Prepare for Heat Waves, Such as Dehumidifiers and Summer Blankets
Support Scale Doubled
Woori Financial Group's Woori Financial Future Foundation announced on the 16th that, together with the Seoul Council on Social Welfare, it will provide supplies such as dehumidifiers, summer blankets, and circulators to semi-basement households vulnerable to heat waves during the summer.
At the donation ceremony held on the 15th, Jang Gwangik, Secretary General of the Woori Financial Future Foundation, and Kim Hyunhun, Chairman of the Seoul Council on Social Welfare, attended to mark the official start of the support program.
Since 2017, Woori Financial Group has consistently carried out summer heat wave response programs and winter cold wave response programs for energy-vulnerable households. In particular, this year, reflecting the growing social concern over the intensifying climate crisis and the need for practical support, the scale of support has been doubled compared to the previous year.
This support program focuses on enhancing the safety of daily life for semi-basement households exposed to health risks during the summer. It is expected to provide tangible help not only by supplying goods but also by preventing health deterioration and improving residential environments.
A representative from the Woori Financial Future Foundation stated, "The impact of heat waves can vary greatly depending on residential environments," and added, "We hope this support will contribute, even in a small way, to the stability of energy-vulnerable households in Seoul during the summer."
Meanwhile, the Woori Financial Future Foundation is engaged in various social contribution activities for vulnerable groups, including: establishing 'Goodwill Store' locations to create job ecosystems for people with developmental disabilities; installing and operating 'Goodwill Donation Boxes' at Woori Bank branches to promote a culture of giving; supporting vision and hearing surgeries for children and adolescents from low-income families through the 'Woori Rookie' program; and helping underage single parents achieve independence through the 'Woori Wonder Family' program. Through these efforts, the foundation is putting into practice the values of inclusive finance and warm sharing.
