The Korea Tourism Organization announced on July 17 that it has signed a strategic business agreement with Pokemon Korea, Jeju Tourism Organization, and Jungmun Tourism Complex Association to promote the '2025 Pokemon Jeju Project: Pokemon Wonder Island in JEJU.'
Under this agreement, the four organizations will jointly promote the 2025 Pokemon Jeju Project, discover collaborative projects to revitalize Jeju tourism and the Jungmun Tourism Complex, and utilize character intellectual property (IP) for the promotion of Jeju tourism.
The 2025 Pokemon Jeju Project will take place from October 2 to 26, centered around Yeomiji Botanical Garden and the Jungmun Tourism Complex. The main programs include a Pokemon-themed photo zone at Jeju International Airport, a Pokemon GO Stamp Rally throughout the Jungmun Tourism Complex, a pop-up store and mission tour inside Yeomiji Botanical Garden, and the Pokemon RUN event.
The Pokemon GO Stamp Rally is a new feature of Pokemon GO that allows participants to collect stamps by visiting specific locations (Pokestops), and it will be introduced for the first time in Korea in Jeju. Participants can enjoy the new experience of collecting stamps at designated locations within the Jungmun Tourism Complex and receive various prizes. The Pokemon RUN, which will be held for the first time in Korea, is an event where participants run along the cart path of Jungmun Golf Course with Jeju's mountains and sea as the backdrop. It is a new Pokemon experience program designed for the whole family to enjoy together.
Park Jungwoong, head of the Jeju branch of the Korea Tourism Organization, stated, "I hope this project will breathe new life into the Jeju tourism market, which has been in crisis due to a decline in domestic tourists for three consecutive years, and serve as an opportunity to showcase the new appeal of the Jungmun Tourism Complex to the world." He added, "We will fully utilize the Korea Tourism Organization's domestic and international networks to support the successful implementation of the project."
