'Water Worry-Free Buyeo'... Governor Park Junghyun Promotes 14 Billion Won Hyeonam District Water Development Project Park Junghyun Buyeo County Governor

Buyeo County in South Chungcheong Province is taking proactive measures for water management in response to the climate crisis, thereby strengthening the region's agricultural foundation.

The county announced on the 17th that the Hyeonam district in Guryong-myeon has been newly selected for the '2025 Multipurpose Rural Water Development Project,' securing 14 billion won in national funding. This achievement is one of the key pledges of Park Junghyun, the county governor, and is the result of continuous planning and persistent persuasion of central government ministries during his eighth term in office.

This project is a national initiative that aims to establish a stable water supply system by improving water facilities such as reservoirs, pumping stations, and irrigation channels in farmland areas that frequently suffer from drought damage.

Through the Hyeonam district project, the county plans to proactively mitigate agricultural risks caused by climate change, expand the cultivation of alternative crops, and increase farm household incomes.

Additionally, three villages including Hyeonmi-ri in Chunghwa-myeon are currently being considered as project sites for next year (2026), with the county aiming to secure the entire project budget of 25 billion won from national funds.

The county plans to build a dense, region-specific water infrastructure centered on the Hyeonam and Chunghwa districts, taking the lead in realizing 'water welfare' for the entire region.

Governor Park stated, "The selection of the Hyeonam district marks a significant turning point that will provide a practical solution for farmers suffering from water shortages," adding, "We will continue to identify and promote projects focused on drought-prone areas such as the Chunghwa district, in order to establish a stable, year-round water supply system throughout Buyeo."

Meanwhile, since the start of his eighth term, Governor Park has also been accelerating the establishment of the 'three major agricultural infrastructure projects': building a year-round water supply system for the eco-friendly smart horticultural complex, reorganizing the rural water use system in the Bansan district, and implementing permanent flood prevention measures for horticultural specialty districts, thereby striving to create a sustainable agricultural environment.
