Keynote and Panel Discussions on Korea's Energy Security and Policy Directions
The National Academy of Engineering of Korea (NAEK) will hold the 280th NAEK Forum on July 21, 2025, at the EL Tower in Yangjae-dong, Seoul, under the theme "Energy Transition: What Is Our Choice for National Survival and Competitiveness?"
This forum will feature in-depth discussions on the energy security crisis and response strategies faced by Korea, which has an energy import dependency rate of 93.8%. The forum will also explore national-level response strategies.

Park Jin-ho, Vice President for Research at Korea Institute of Energy Technology, will deliver a keynote speech on "Energy Transition: Our Choice for National Survival and Competitiveness." Park Jong-bae, Professor at the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering at Konkuk University, will present on "Suggestions for the Development Direction of the New Government's Energy (Electricity) Policy."
The panel session will feature Kim Myung-hwan, Head of the Next-Generation Secondary Battery Strategy Research Group at the Korea Research Institute of Chemical Technology; Seo Jang-chul, CTO of LS ELECTRIC; Lee Chang-hoon, Visiting Professor at the Graduate School of Environmental Studies at Seoul National University; and Jang Gil-su, Professor at the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering at Korea University.
Yoon Je-yong, Chair of the NAEK Forum Committee and Professor at Seoul National University, said, "I hope this forum will serve as a venue for presenting practical solutions that turn the energy security crisis into an opportunity and create new growth engines."
