Creating Pet-Friendly Tourism Content While Traveling with Companion Dogs
On July 17, the Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province (Governor Kim Jin-tae) announced that the Gangwon Tourism Foundation held an appointment ceremony on July 16 for the interns selected for the pilot operation of the 'Gangwon Dantons' program, an interactive promotional initiative in which participants travel around Gangwon Province with their pet dogs and create content.

'Gangwon Dantons' is a citizen internship group selected to promote pet-friendly tourism in Gangwon Province. Together with pet owners from within and outside the province, the interns will directly experience various tourist destinations in Gangwon and produce and distribute related content. This year, after fierce competition, a total of seven people and eight pet dogs were selected as official interns, and they will be active from July to November for approximately five months.
Choi Sunghyun, CEO of the Gangwon Tourism Foundation, who presided over the appointment ceremony, stated, "As demand for tourism with pets continues to grow, I hope that the activities of Gangwon Dantons will contribute to raising awareness of pet-friendly tourist destinations in Gangwon and to increasing actual visits."
Meanwhile, in the second half of this year, the Gangwon Tourism Foundation plans to expand pet-friendly tourism information in Gangwon Province through interactive content and emotion-based online promotions, centered around the 'Gangwon Dantons' interns. Through these efforts, the foundation aims to create a tourism environment where pet owners and their pets can travel safely and with peace of mind, both emotionally and physically. Additionally, by encouraging direct participation from local residents, the foundation intends to enhance the effectiveness of pet-friendly policies as a regional co-prosperity tourism model.
