On July 17, Seongbuk-gu in Seoul (District Mayor Lee Seungro) announced that it has introduced and is now operating a 'Smart Mailbox' system to enhance systematic management and security of civil documents and various internal and external papers.
The Smart Mailbox allows only authorized users to receive documents through a user authentication system. It also automatically records all opening and closing activities, making it effective in preventing unauthorized access, loss, and damage.
Seongbuk-gu expects this initiative to overcome the limitations of conventional key-based mailboxes and reduce concerns about personal information leaks. The district also anticipates improved administrative trust among civil petitioners and increased efficiency in the document receipt and delivery process.
Lee Seungro, Mayor of Seongbuk-gu, stated, "With the introduction of the Smart Mailbox, we have established a digital-based administrative environment and a safe and efficient document management system. We will continue to do our best to provide administrative services that residents can truly experience."
