According to the Gyeonggi Province Fire and Disaster Headquarters, at around 7:04 p.m. on the 16th, a retaining wall approximately 10 meters high near the Gajang Intersection overpass in Osan City collapsed onto the road. As a result of this accident, one vehicle passing under the overpass was buried under the debris of the retaining wall.

After assessing the situation at the scene, fire authorities declared "Response Level 1," which mobilizes all personnel from the local fire station, and deployed 26 pieces of equipment, including a command vehicle, along with 78 personnel to carry out rescue operations. Two excavators were also urgently dispatched to the site.

As of now, the exact number of casualties has not been confirmed. Rescue teams are searching the vehicle under the assumption that the driver or other occupants may be trapped inside.

At around 4:00 p.m. on the same day, before the accident, a pothole several tens of centimeters in diameter had formed in the Suwon-bound lane of the same overpass section, and repair work was underway. At that time, the police and Osan City closed off two Suwon-bound lanes.

The fire department and police are investigating the cause of the retaining wall collapse, as well as whether there were any occupants in the vehicle.
