On July 16, the Sanho-dong Welfare Family Volunteer Association in Masanhappo-gu, Changwon Special City, Gyeongnam, held an event at the Sanho-dong Administrative Welfare Center to provide nutritious chicken porridge to help residents stay healthy during the summer heat, in celebration of Chobok.
This event was organized to support underprivileged households and elderly residents struggling with the ongoing scorching heat, using a donation of 1 million won from the local company Donga Sobang and the association’s own funds.
For two days, on July 15 and 16, 60 whole chickens, glutinous rice, jujubes, and other ingredients were purchased, cleaned, and prepared. The chicken was boiled, shredded, and then used to make broth and cook the chicken porridge.
The chicken porridge prepared on this day was delivered to the "Banat Food Sharing Refrigerator" at the Sanho-dong Administrative Welfare Center and to local senior centers, helping residents in welfare blind spots and elderly people suffering from the heat to stay healthy during the summer.
Hwang Hyungtae, CEO of Donga Sobang, who participated in the event, said, "Although it is not much, I hope the nutritious chicken porridge is delivered well to those exhausted by the heat and helps them stay healthy this summer."
Kim Taehee, president of the Welfare Family Association, stated, "To mark Chobok, we organized this event to make and deliver chicken porridge, a representative health food, to neighbors in the blind spots of the summer heat. I would also like to thank the CEO of Donga Sobang for his great support."
