A woman in her 70s has been referred to prosecutors after allegedly attempting to lure an elementary school student near a school by offering 10,000 won.
Bangbae Police Station in Seoul announced on the 16th that the female suspect in her 70s has been sent to the prosecution on charges of attempted abduction of a minor.
The suspect is accused of luring a student near an elementary school in Seocho-gu, Seoul, at around 2 p.m. on July 2, by saying, "If you do me a favor, I will give you 10,000 won in cash."
Police began their investigation after receiving a report from the student's guardian on July 4, apprehended the suspect the following day, and questioned her twice.
To address concerns among parents and citizens, four police stations in Seocho-gu and Gangnam-gu, along with the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency's Mobile Patrol Unit (teams 4 to 8), plan to strengthen patrols at 57 elementary schools in their jurisdictions during arrival and dismissal times until the start of summer vacation.
