Equipped with a pool, seesaw, and sunflower shower at Jungoe Park
Open until August 17... Free admission for elementary school children and younger
A new urban retreat has been created for citizens weary from the intense heat. On July 16, the Gwangju Museum of Art announced that it has established an outdoor water playground in the Ecological Art Play Garden within Jungoe Park, Buk-gu, and that it will open for the first time on July 19.
This newly constructed water playground is part of the Asia Art Garden development project, which was completed in September 2024. It serves as a play space for children and families throughout the year and is transformed into a water playground during the summer season.
The rubber-elastic pool, covering a total area of 358 square meters, is equipped with a variety of play facilities, including a salamander combination playground, a water seesaw, and a sunflower shower. In particular, the shallow water depth of 20 centimeters makes it ideal for families with young children.
The water playground will be open for one month until August 17, and can be used from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The facility is open to children of elementary school age and younger, and admission is free. However, it will be closed every Monday and on rainy days.
Yoon Ik, director of the Gwangju Museum of Art, stated, "We will do our best to ensure that children can enjoy water play safely and happily in the midst of art and nature," adding, "We hope that the Ecological Art Play Garden Water Playground, opening for the first time this year, will become a representative summer water attraction for families."
