The Yongin City Government announced that it has signed a business agreement with the Yongin Office of Education and 118 elementary, middle, and high schools in the city to open school facilities. With this agreement, the number of schools in Yongin that are opening their sports facilities has increased to 152, according to the city.

Previously, on December 2023, 31 schools in Yongin first signed an agreement with the city and opened their sports facilities. In February this year, three more schools participated, and now an additional 118 schools have joined in opening their facilities. In particular, with this agreement, all 106 elementary schools in Yongin will open their facilities to residents.

Under the agreement, the city will provide administrative and financial support to schools participating in the opening of their facilities. The Yongin Office of Education will collect feedback from each school and cooperate to ensure the opening process runs smoothly. Each school will open its gymnasium, playground, parking lot, and other facilities to citizens, as long as it does not interfere with educational activities or facility management.

However, for student safety and other reasons, facilities can only be used through prior reservation. Since the scope of access and available hours differ by school, it is necessary to check in advance.

To reserve a facility, visit the 'School Facility Use Application' section on the 'Education' page under 'Information by Field' on the city government’s website.

Lee Sangil, Mayor of Yongin, said, "School sports facilities are for students' education, so I hope citizens will demonstrate a mature sense of civic responsibility and treat them with care." Kim Heejeong, Superintendent of the Yongin Office of Education, said, "It is very meaningful that all elementary schools in the city are participating in the opening of their facilities," adding, "We will do our best to provide on-site support so that facility opening can expand to middle and high schools as well."
