SK Shieldus Steps Up as Guardian of Cultural and Artistic Spaces

Smart Physical Security Solutions Using AI Technology
Creating a Safe Viewing Environment Even in Dimly Lit Immersive Exhibitions

ADT Caps, the physical security brand of SK Shieldus, is emerging as a "guardian" of cultural and artistic spaces. Museums and exhibition halls house cultural assets and artworks, but as these are spaces that are constantly visited by the public, they are exposed to a variety of threats such as intrusion by outsiders, theft, and damage, as well as internal accidents and disasters. ADT Caps is focusing on prevention and response in these spaces that require special protection through an integrated unmanned security system powered by artificial intelligence (AI)-based smart physical security solutions.

On July 16, SK Shieldus announced that there has been a recent increase in cases of ADT Caps’ specialized security services being adopted in the cultural and exhibition sectors. The reason ADT Caps’ security services are gaining attention is that they provide an operational environment that considers both the safety of exhibits and the convenience of visitors, through customized security systems for artworks and cultural assets.

A representative example is the immersive media art exhibition hall "Arte Museum." ADT Caps recently completed the installation of security systems at major domestic venues such as Arte Museum Gangneung, Jeju, and Yeosu. Arte Museum is a media art exhibition brand that is expanding not only to major tourist destinations in Korea but also overseas, including Hong Kong, Las Vegas, and Dubai, attracting over 10 million cumulative visitors worldwide. As the venue is characterized by allowing many visitors to move freely and approach the artworks in dim lighting, systematic management for both visitor safety and artwork protection has been required. ADT Caps has established an integrated security system tailored to the unique exhibition environment of Arte Museum, consisting of high-definition CCTV, access control systems, and unmanned security equipment. Intrusion and anomaly detection sensors installed in key areas of the exhibition hall send real-time alerts to the ADT Caps control center in case of emergencies, supporting immediate response.

There are additional cases where ADT Caps’ security solutions are protecting artworks. The security system detects potential risks within exhibition spaces in advance, creating an environment where visitors can focus on the exhibition with greater peace of mind. Operators can also reduce concerns about theft, damage, and safety accidents, while improving management efficiency. A memorial hall located in Yongsan-gu, Seoul, is a complex space that not only displays artifacts but also serves as an archive and video hall, preserving various cultural records. Since the memorial hall houses numerous important historical materials and video content, it required not only physical security but also stability in record management and facility operations. ADT Caps provides dispatch security and access control systems tailored to the characteristics and operational methods of the memorial hall’s exhibition spaces. In addition, the system supports immediate response through alerts in case of gas leaks or water leakage.

In the case of a gallery located in Bundang-gu, Gyeonggi Province, which operates as a permanent exhibition space, items of significant historical value are displayed to the public free of charge. Since anyone can enter freely, there were considerable concerns about theft or damage. To address this, ADT Caps has provided the gallery with CCTV, unmanned security, and access control systems, protecting the exhibits around the clock. An ADT Caps representative stated, "Through customized security services that reflect the unique characteristics of cultural and artistic spaces, we will do our utmost to ensure that the emotional experience of cultural spaces is not overshadowed by anxiety."
