On July 15 at 3:00 p.m., the Busan Metropolitan Government (Mayor Park Hyungjun) held a public briefing session titled "Establishment of Igidae Art Park and Construction of Centre Pompidou Busan" in the main auditorium of Nam-gu District Office.
The city has previously informed citizens about the progress of these two projects through expert panel discussions, three roundtable meetings, and press releases. This briefing session was organized to facilitate direct communication with citizens.
The event began with a promotional video for Igidae Art Park, followed by presentations on plans to make the art park a local landmark and explanations of the Centre Pompidou Busan construction project. A Q&A session was held afterward. The head of the city's Park and Leisure Policy Division and the head of the Culture and Arts Division delivered the project explanations, while the Director General of Culture oversaw the responses to citizens' questions. At the venue, citizens freely asked questions about misunderstandings, curiosities, and future plans regarding the projects, engaging in open communication.
In addition to this briefing session, the city has also gathered a wide range of opinions from the arts community by holding "Cultural Listening" sessions nine times between March and May, with the participation of 135 artists and experts.
Starting with this session, the city plans to continue holding briefings and other communication efforts to broaden citizens' understanding of and encourage participation in the Igidae Art Park and Centre Pompidou Busan projects.
Cho Yujang, Director General of Culture at the city, stated, "Active exchanges with the world are essential for Busan to become a true global hub city," adding, "Igidae Art Park and Centre Pompidou Busan are strategic investments toward this goal." He also emphasized, "The opinions gathered through this briefing session will be fully reflected in the project implementation process."
