The Chungnam Provincial Office of Education announced that it held a training session for approximately 160 middle school teachers from the province at the Education Training Center in Gongju City for two days starting July 14. The training focused on creating evaluation plans for the second semester of first-year students using the 'Class Preparation OK' materials.
The teacher training was organized to realize the integration of instruction, assessment, and record-keeping in accordance with the 2022 revised curriculum, and to support the design of student-centered lessons. The training was conducted with a practical focus on seven core subjects: Korean, mathematics, social studies, ethics, science, technology and home economics, and English.
Field-based instructors who participated in the development of the Class Preparation OK materials for each subject led the sessions. The lectures were designed to strengthen teachers' capabilities in instruction and assessment, focusing on practical and concrete exercises such as identifying assessment elements based on achievement standards, presenting examples of evaluation plan development, and designing student-participatory lessons.
Previously, the provincial office has been systematically developing and distributing the Class Preparation OK materials in stages to support teachers in lesson and assessment planning, and to enhance the quality of process-based assessment. In the second half of last year, materials for five subjects?Korean, English, mathematics, social studies, and science?for the first semester of first-year middle school were developed and distributed to schools. This year, as a continuation, new materials for the second semester of first-year students were developed and provided as follow-up resources for the same subjects.
An official stated, "This is providing practical support for teachers as they design lessons and develop evaluation plans themselves."
