Public Housing with Private Sector Participation
A Total of 1,054 Units Supplied
Project Cost: 298.5 Billion Won
On July 15, Woomi Construction announced that it has been selected as the preferred bidder for public housing construction projects in Goyang Changneung and Uijeongbu. These projects are integrated public housing developments with private sector participation, commissioned by Korea Land and Housing Corporation (LH), with a total project cost of approximately 298.5 billion won.
Woomi Construction will participate as the lead company with a 51% stake and has formed a consortium with Gyeryong Construction Industry, Taeyoung Construction, and ESI. The project sites are Goyang Changneung S-1 Block and Uijeongbu Legal Town S-2 Block.
The Goyang Changneung S-1 Block will consist of four buildings, up to 29 stories high, with a total of 494 units. The units will be small to mid-sized homes with exclusive areas ranging from 59 to 84 square meters, supplied as the standard type of the government’s public sale brand ‘New Home’ at approximately 80% of the market price.
Woomi Construction has designed the complex so that a large central plaza connects to a waterfront road, a neighborhood park, and an elementary school. Accessibility to Seoul is also expected to improve significantly once the GTX Changneung Station opens.
The Uijeongbu Legal Town S-2 Block will consist of six buildings, with a total of 560 units, also with exclusive areas ranging from 59 to 84 square meters, supplied as the ‘New Home’ selective type. The selective type allows residents to decide whether to purchase the unit after renting. The concept of the complex is ‘an open view where city and nature harmonize,’ and the plan is to create a pleasant residential environment centered around pedestrian walkways.
This complex is close to the Uijeongbu Gosan Public Housing District and public offices, and large commercial facilities and an IT campus are planned for the southern side of the site.
A Woomi Construction representative stated, “We aim to enhance our brand value by supplying high-quality public housing under the Woomirin brand in key regional locations,” and added, “Even in a challenging market environment, we will strengthen our competitiveness and solidify our position by actively participating in public project tenders.”
