"Spend Your Summer in Haenam"... Dinosaur, Valley, and Fountain Water Play Areas Open

Safe Water Play in Nature
Haenam County Focuses on Attracting Family Tourists

Haenam County in South Jeolla Province announced on July 15 that as the intense summer heat begins in earnest, water play areas across the county are opening one after another to welcome vacationers.

The main facility, the Haenam Dinosaur Museum Water Play Experience Zone, has been operating since July 5. This area is exclusively for infants and children, and is equipped with slides, ground fountains, and play structures. Children aged 3 to 13 can use the facility, and it is free for visitors to the Dinosaur Museum. The facility operates six times a day between 10:00 a.m. and 4:40 p.m. It is closed every Monday and on rainy days. Swimsuits, swim caps, and aqua shoes are mandatory for entry.

The Haenam County People’s Square Musical Fountain has become a popular summer attraction, featuring ground fountains and a nighttime light show. During the day, it operates at intervals between 2:00 p.m. and 6:40 p.m. The nighttime musical fountain runs for 30 minutes from 8:30 p.m. It does not operate on Mondays, during severe weather, or on public holidays.

The Gocheonam Ecological Park operates its ground fountain mainly on weekends. The facility is open three times a day: from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., and from 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Nearby, there are picnic areas, a lotus wetland, and walking trails available for visitors.

The Donghaeri Kimchi Village Water Play Experience Zone in Bukpyeong-myeon will open on July 19 and operate until August 17. The water play area uses groundwater that is replaced daily, and it is a popular facility visited by about 10,000 people annually. In addition to water play facilities, there are also pavilions, shower rooms, restrooms, and a snack bar. Some facilities require a fee.

The Gusugol Water Play Area in Hyunsan-myeon opened on July 12. With a three-tier check dam structure and shallow water depth, it is safe for children to use. Admission is free, but parking and pavilion rental fees are charged separately. Nearby tourist attractions such as the Forest Arboretum and the Hinoki Cypress Forest Trail can also be enjoyed.

A county official stated, "Haenam’s water play areas are especially popular among family tourists due to their clean water quality amidst pristine nature, open landscapes, and excellent accessibility to major tourist sites."
