On the 15th, U.S. renewable energy developer D.E. Shaw Renewable Investments (DESRI) announced that it had completed the financial closing and commenced construction of the 'Santa Teresa Solar and Energy Storage Project' in Do?a Ana County, New Mexico.
This project features a 150-megawatt (MWac) solar facility equipped with a 600-megawatt-hour (MWh) ESS.
The ESS supplied for this project will be provided by Vertech, the U.S. system integration subsidiary of LG Energy Solution. Vertech will supply batteries produced in the United States along with its proprietary energy management software, 'AEROS.' The company will also provide technical support and maintenance through a long-term service agreement.
Vertech was established after LG Energy Solution acquired a 100% stake in U.S. ESS company 'NEC Energy Solutions' in 2022. The company offers customized solutions for each client, covering all stages from ESS business planning and design to installation, maintenance, and repair. LG Energy Solution aims to build a comprehensive business capability that goes beyond simple battery supply to include full system integration.
LG Energy Solution has recently secured a series of new orders, earning recognition for its capabilities in the North American ESS market. In November last year, the company signed an ESS supply agreement of up to 8 gigawatt-hours (GWh) with U.S. renewable energy company 'Terra-Gen.' In December, it signed a contract with U.S. renewable energy infrastructure fund 'Excelsior Energy Capital' to supply 7.5 GWh of ESS.
