Korean Air announced on July 15 that it will participate in the 2025 World Smart City Expo (WSCE), where it will present its vision for future smart mobility business and showcase advanced aerospace technology.

WSCE is the largest smart city exhibition in Asia, co-hosted by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport and the Ministry of Science and ICT since 2017 to share the latest technologies and innovations related to smart cities from around the world. This year's event will be held at BEXCO in Busan for three days from July 15 to July 17. Last year, the event attracted more than 330 organizations and companies from 70 countries and over 39,000 visitors.

At this exhibition, Korean Air will introduce its aerospace business capabilities and the latest technologies related to smart mobility, centering on its corporate value system, 'KE Way.' 'KE Way' combines Korean Air's airline code (KE) with the English word for 'way.' The booth is organized into three sections under the corporate mission of 'Connecting for a Better World,' featuring future advanced air mobility (AAM), digital MRO, and smart drones?all utilizing Korean Air technology.

In particular, the 'inspection drone' equipped with Internet of Things (IoT) technology is designed to resolve safety issues for maintenance personnel during aircraft exterior inspections and to improve maintenance efficiency. Korean Air explained that, with some performance enhancements, this technology could also be applied to smart mobility businesses. The company will also unveil a range of technologies that can be used in various fields, including a chatbot that uses artificial intelligence (AI) to suggest appropriate maintenance plans when aircraft defects are detected, and a hybrid drone capable of long-duration flights suitable for land and maritime environmental surveys, reconnaissance, and goods delivery.

Korean Air will also highlight its emergence as a leading player in the urban air mobility (UAM) sector. The company has recently taken the lead in building operational and traffic management systems for the UAM ecosystem, accumulating a wealth of expertise. Last year, Korean Air participated in the first phase of the 'K-UAM Grand Challenge,' a Korean urban air mobility demonstration project led by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport. At the exhibition, Korean Air will unveil 'ACROSS,' an operational control and traffic management solution that demonstrates innovation and safety in UAM services.

A Korean Air representative stated, "This exhibition is a valuable opportunity to apply Korean Air's advanced technology and innovation to the future smart mobility industry and to prepare for a new leap forward based on our expertise in the aerospace sector."
