Hampyeong-gun, Jeollanam-do announced on July 15 that it conducted an on-site inspection ahead of the opening of the Hampyeong Expo Park Water Playground as a proactive measure against the summer heatwave.

The Hampyeong Expo Park Water Playground will operate for a total of 31 days, from July 18 to August 17, and has established itself as a leading summer vacation destination in Jeollanam-do, attracting more than 30,000 visitors annually. This year, the "2025 Hampyeong Water Play Festa" will be held for the first time, and an even larger number of visitors is expected.

Accordingly, since last month, the county has established a preliminary safety management plan to prevent accidents such as heatwaves and water-related incidents. In addition, it has strengthened its response system by holding a safety review meeting with relevant agencies, including the fire department and police station.

County Governor Lee Sangik thoroughly inspected major attractions such as the wave pool and water slide, water quality management, and the implementation of safety manuals. He also instructed that, to prevent accidents caused by crowding, visitors be guided to disperse into unused spaces within the park, such as exhibition halls and experience centers.

He paid close attention to the installation status of shade canopies and artificial grass mats, considering the prolonged exposure to sunlight. He also emphasized the importance of deploying a sufficient number of lifeguards, medical staff, and safety personnel on site, urging them to remain vigilant and respond thoroughly to prevent accidents. In preparation for the signature program of the Water Play Festa, the "Survival Water Gun Battle," he personally checked the installation and operation of five shower booths and four sunflower water taps.

The most distinctive feature of this year's water playground is the use of Hampyeong-gun's own character, "Hwangbaki," in the shade canopy designs. By incorporating the Hwangbaki character into shade facilities at the entrance and rental stations, visitors are provided with enjoyable sights even while waiting or resting.

In addition, free amenities such as canopies, rest areas, and locker rooms are available. The fact that cooked delivery food can be brought in is a unique feature compared to water playgrounds in other regions, and is expected to receive a positive response from vacationers.

Governor Lee Sangik stated, "I hope that residents and tourists will have a great time at the Hampyeong Expo Park Water Playground and beat the heat," adding, "We will devote all administrative resources to safety management to ensure everyone enjoys a pleasant summer."
