According to the Seo-gu Council on July 14, this volunteer activity was organized to prevent safety accidents by inspecting disaster-prone areas in advance, in response to the recent frequent occurrence of sudden heavy rain nationwide.
More than 10 people, including council members, participated in inspecting vulnerable areas, cleaning drainage channels, and removing sediment. They also conducted patrol activities in areas susceptible to heavy rain in order to prevent damage to residents and create a safer living environment.
In particular, the council members checked the road drainage conditions, removed debris and cleaned foreign substances from drains, and actively communicated with residents on-site to listen to their inconveniences during heavy rain.
Chairman Jeon Seungil stated, "Preventing flood damage caused by heavy rain is above all a matter of preemptive inspection and maintenance, and this volunteer activity was an opportunity for all council members to come together with the shared intention of protecting residents' safety." He added, "We will continue to focus on field-oriented legislative activities that breathe together with the residents."
The Seo-gu Council plans to continue prioritizing resident safety by carrying out various field activities and policy proposals in response to changes in the climate environment.
