Jeonnam Office of Education Expands Public Service Opportunities for Commercial High School Graduates

Appointment as Level 9 Civil Servant Possible After Six-Month Probation

On July 14, the Jeonnam Office of Education announced its 'Outstanding Talent Trainee Employee Selection Plan' targeting graduates (including expected graduates) of commercial high schools in the province. The selection process will involve a written exam, document screening, and interviews for outstanding students recommended by their school principals, who will then be chosen as trainee employees.

Previously, local government employee recruitment in the Jeonnam region was limited to graduates (including expected graduates) of specialized high schools and Meister high schools, specifically those in technical fields such as engineering, facilities, and culinary arts. However, this new plan aims to expand opportunities for entry into public service to graduates (including expected graduates) of commercial high schools as well.

In particular, by including the educational administration field, the plan opens a new path for outstanding talent from various sectors within the region to become public officials. Those selected as trainee employees will undergo a six-month probationary period, after which their eligibility for appointment as level 9 civil servants will be determined based on their performance.

The Jeonnam Office of Education plans to support local talent in advancing into public service and growing in their careers through this selection process. By doing so, it aims to foster local talent and improve the residential environment, accelerating the creation of a virtuous educational ecosystem. This initiative is expected to serve as a significant turning point for talent discovery and development, as well as for revitalizing the local economy in Jeonnam.

Lee Seonkuk, Director of General Affairs, stated, "By actively hiring local talent, we will overcome the crisis of regional decline and enable those who will be responsible for Jeonnam's future to grow within the region." He added, "We will continue to lay the foundation for local talent to pursue their dreams in Jeonnam."
