The Gokseong County Future Education Foundation (Chairman Cho Sangrae, hereafter referred to as the Foundation) announced on July 14 that it will host the "Reading Journey on a Midsummer Night" on August 22 and 23 to promote a reading culture among county residents.

The event, themed "Gokseong Jiji Night" as part of the Reading Journey on a Midsummer Night, will take place at the Ecological Bookstore Deulnyeokui Maeum and Misillan. It is open to 100 participants who are high school students or older and enjoy reading.

The program is designed to bring together people both inside and outside the county who are interested in reading, regardless of genre, to experience "loose connections," form unexpected relationships beyond family, friends, or romantic partners, and promote the reading education values pursued by the Foundation.

The aim is to offer participants the experience of gaining inspiration or resolving long-standing concerns through "loose connections" formed by shared interests, rather than the strong ties of work or professional relationships, all in a relaxed atmosphere.

This reading event will be held over two days and one night without an overnight stay, under the theme of "Literature." Authors and readers will meet for a variety of programs, including lectures by genre, a midnight treasure hunt, appreciating masterpieces without sleeping, and a Bibliobattle (an intellectual book review competition).

Applications will be accepted for one month starting July 14, and there is a participation fee of 10,000 won. All participants are also required to prepare a book review introducing a book they enjoyed reading in under three minutes. The "Bibliobattle" will select a champion through preliminary and final rounds, awarding reading benefits to the person whose presentation most inspires the audience to want to read the book.

A Foundation representative stated, "There are so many different ways to approach books these days, and we hope that through this interesting event, more people will become closer to books."
