Gyeongsangnam-do Medical Association and Gyeongsang National University College of Medicine: "We Will Spare No Effort to Support Medical Students' Return"

"We earnestly hope that young medical students will return to their daily lives as soon as possible, and we solemnly declare that we will stand with them from the beginning to the end of that journey."

As medical students who had left campus due to the conflict between the government and the medical community over the expansion of medical school quotas are gradually returning, the Gyeongsangnam-do Medical Association and Gyeongsang National University College of Medicine have emphasized their support and efforts for this process.

The Gyeongsangnam-do Medical Association and Gyeongsang National University College of Medicine made these remarks in a joint statement titled "Together, Rebuilding the Future of Medicine."

They stated, "Standing at the end of a long, dark tunnel, more and more students are preparing to return as medical students or have already decided to do so," and added, "Now is not a time for repetition and confrontation, but a time for recovery and healing."

They further said, "This moment must become the first step toward healing the wounded medical community," and called on everyone to "join hands so that young medical students can return to their studies."

The Gyeongsangnam-do Medical Association pledged, "What is needed now is mutual understanding and concession," and vowed, "We will spare no effort to provide all possible support so that students who have returned to their studies can pursue their medical careers without hesitation."

Gyeongsang National University College of Medicine also stated, "Together with the faculty, we will establish concrete and effective measures to minimize the educational gap for students returning to medical school."

They urged the government to provide the maximum administrative flexibility for the return of medical students and called for the establishment of a system in which medical policies are developed through discussions with medical professionals and the public.

They emphasized, "Devise all possible institutional measures so that medical students can return and focus on their studies without disadvantage," and stressed, "Medical policy must be discussed with medical professionals as a public value directly linked to the lives of the people, not as a political tool."
