Off-duty Firefighter Stops Cargo Truck Fire on the Road

Off-duty Firefighter Stops Cargo Truck Fire on the Road Woo Minje Fire Officer

An off-duty firefighter quickly extinguished a vehicle fire on the road, preventing significant damage.

According to the Suwon Nambu Fire Station on July 14, at around 4:06 p.m. on July 11, Woo Minje, a Fire Officer with the 119 Rescue Team, witnessed flames and smoke coming from a parked cargo vehicle on the side of the road while on his way home. He immediately used a car fire extinguisher from his own vehicle and put out the fire within five minutes.

Thanks to Fire Officer Woo's swift response, the fire was extinguished without major damage and there were no casualties. The Ansan Fire Station team, which responded to the emergency call, promptly secured the scene.

Woo Minje stated, "A firefighter is a profession where you cannot distinguish between working hours and off-hours in disaster situations," adding, "Any firefighter would have acted just as I did in the same situation."
