Event Held to Distribute Supplies Preventing Heat-Related Illnesses to Delivery Drivers
"The Best Preventive Measure is Rest; Expansion of Five-Day Delivery Service"

Coupang Logistics Service (CLS) announced on July 14 that, together with representatives from consignment delivery companies, it held an event to distribute supplies aimed at preventing heat-related illnesses among delivery drivers affiliated with these companies during the peak summer season.

"Five-Day Workweek Delivery Takes Hold" Hong Yongjun, CEO of CLS, and the head of the consignment delivery company are providing quick flexers with refreshing bottled water, ion drinks, neck coolers, cool sleeves, cool patches, and sports candy on the afternoon of the 13th at the Songpa Camp in Seoul. Provided by Coupang CLS.

This event was held on the afternoon of July 13 at the Songpa Camp in Seoul, targeting delivery drivers (Quick Flexers) affiliated with the delivery companies. Over 10 participants, including Hong Yongjun, CEO of CLS, other CLS officials, and the CEOs of delivery companies, provided Quick Flexers with refreshing bottled water, ion drinks, neck coolers, cool sleeves, cool patches, and sports candy.

CLS plans to distribute cool sleeves, which are highly preferred cooling gear, to Quick Flexers nationwide. In addition, when booking health checkups?fully funded by CLS?drivers will also receive insulated bags to keep ice-cold bottled water and other beverages cool.

Coupang CLS and the consignment delivery companies have become the first in the industry to sign a business agreement with a specialized health screening institution, providing Quick Flexers with comprehensive health checkups and specialized health management programs. To this end, the health screening institution operates a dedicated team composed of specialists such as occupational and environmental medicine doctors and health management nurses, while CLS fully covers all related costs.

Coupang CLS is also implementing a five-day workweek for deliveries. CLS was the first in the industry to introduce a backup driver system, allowing customers to receive 'seven-day delivery' while enabling delivery drivers to work 'five days or less per week.' According to the Korea Society of Logistics Science and Technology, the proportion of respondents delivering five days or less per week was 62%, which is overwhelmingly higher than other companies.

For most parcel delivery drivers, working six days a week is the norm, so they can only take summer vacations when the 'No-Parcel Delivery Day' occurs in August. However, delivery drivers affiliated with CLS delivery companies can work four to five days a week through the backup driver system and take vacations regardless of the season.

In addition, CLS has introduced a 'mandatory leave system' for delivery drivers who choose to work six days a week, requiring them to take at least two consecutive days off once every half-year. There is also a 'No-Parcel Delivery Day' each half-year, allowing drivers to take leave on their preferred schedule.

CEO Hong Yongjun stated, "We will continue to work with consignment delivery companies to further expand rest periods for delivery drivers."
