GH Inspects Heatwave Safety Rules at Gwangmyeong Hakon District

Gyeonggi Housing and Urban Development Corporation (GH) has taken steps to strengthen safety measures for construction site workers as record-breaking heatwaves continue day after day.

On July 14, GH visited the construction site of the Gwangmyeong Hakon public housing district to inspect the implementation of the "Five Major Heatwave Safety Rules," which include: providing cool drinking water; installing cooling devices and equipment; ensuring a 20-minute break every two hours; distributing personal cooling gear; and immediately reporting to emergency services (119) if any worker falls ill or shows symptoms of heat-related illness.

On this day, GH also held a meeting with site personnel to listen to the concerns of the workers. In addition, to help workers cope with the heat, GH distributed cooling gear such as neckband fans and cooling sleeves, as well as ion beverages.

Kang Sung-hyuk, head of GH's Urban Revitalization Headquarters, stated, "As the ongoing heatwave worsens outdoor working conditions, please do your utmost to ensure worker safety and prevent heatstroke." He added, "Under the slogan 'Cool Rest, Safe Tomorrow,' we will continue to provide on-site support so that workers can take sufficient breaks and work safely."
