Jung Kyujae: President Lee says he could attend China's Victory Day if Trump goes... leaning toward not attending? Yonhap News

On the 14th, during an interview on CBS Radio's 'Kim Hyunjung's News Show,' Jung discussed the luncheon he had with President Lee on the 11th. He said, "It did not seem like President Lee was particularly eager to attend the Chinese Victory Day event," and added, "He spoke in a way that suggested, for example, if President Trump goes, then perhaps we could go as well."

Jung also relayed that when he expressed his critical stance on former President Park Geunhye's participation in the 2014 Chinese Victory Day event, President Lee responded with a tone that implied, "That might have been a bit of an overreaction."

Regarding the possibility of President Trump attending the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit, Jung said, "President Lee mentioned that it would be good if President Xi Jinping of China attends, and if President Trump could also come. He said that various efforts are being made, but nothing has been confirmed yet."

Meanwhile, regarding the fact that some female ministerial nominees, including Education Minister nominee Lee Jinsook, are undergoing intensive vetting, Jung quoted President Lee as saying, "We still need to appoint at least a few women, but it is a serious problem because there really aren't enough suitable candidates."

Jung further stated, "It seems the President feels a certain sense of obligation regarding the female quota when appointing ministers," and added, "He appeared genuinely perplexed by the lack of new candidates to appoint."
