Increase of 1.8 Billion KRW Compared to the Same Period Last Year
A total of 21,700 property tax bills, amounting to 6.3 billion KRW, have been assessed and notified for the first installment of this year.
According to Sejong City, property tax increased by 1.8 billion KRW (2.9%) compared to the same period last year, due to the occupancy of new apartment complexes and the construction of new general buildings. Property tax is levied annually on property owners as of June 1.
For residential properties, if the property tax exceeds 200,000 KRW, it is split into two equal payments in July and September. For land, excluding land attached to residential properties, the entire property tax is assessed in September. Payment can be made by visiting a financial institution by the 31st of this month, or through a dedicated virtual account, Wetax, telephone ARS, or mobile payment apps. Taxpayers who have applied for electronic delivery or automatic transfer of property tax bills can receive a tax deduction of 800 KRW per bill if paid within the deadline, and a deduction of 1,600 KRW per bill if both electronic delivery and automatic transfer are applied.
For reissuance of tax bills or inquiries related to property tax, contact the city’s tax administration division or the local administrative welfare center.
A city official stated, "If you apply for the local tax electronic notification service by next month, you can receive tax-saving benefits when paying the regular property tax in September," and added, "If you fail to pay property tax by the deadline, you will be subject to an additional late payment penalty, so please make sure to pay on time."
