On that day, the governor first visited the temporary modular housing complex located within Hwamae Elementary School to inspect the living conditions of residents affected by wildfires. He carefully checked for any inconveniences caused by the heatwave and monitored residents' health conditions. At the site, he verified the proper functioning of air conditioners and other cooling devices, the insulation status of the houses, and the emergency medical response system.
In particular, on-site training was provided on how to operate air conditioners for elderly residents who are not familiar with new cooling devices, ensuring that residents can stay safe and comfortable during the heatwave.
Next, the governor visited the Taekjeon 2-ri village hall heat shelter to inspect the shelter's operation, the status of cooling equipment, and the convenience of use for elderly residents. He also communicated directly with residents to listen to their suggestions and concerns.
Governor Odochang stated, "Heatwaves are a serious disaster directly related to the lives of our residents, so we will mobilize all administrative resources to respond actively," adding, "In particular, we will continue to implement effective measures to ensure that disaster-vulnerable groups can live without inconvenience."
Yeongyang County plans to continue conducting on-site inspections focusing on wildfire-affected and heatwave-vulnerable areas and to strengthen its heatwave response system so that residents can have a safe and healthy summer.
