Expansion of Premium Seed Distribution and Strengthening of Inter-Institutional Cooperation

Hapcheon-gun, Gyeongsangnam-do announced on July 14 that it held the 'Garlic Premium Seed Production Complex Promotion Pilot Project Evaluation Meeting' at the Eastern Agricultural Cooperative Agricultural Products Distribution Center.

This evaluation meeting was organized to improve the quality and stabilize the production base of garlic, which is Hapcheon-gun's main crop, and to share the achievements in distributing premium seed garlic. During the evaluation meeting, presentations were given on the following topics: the current status of distribution of tissue-cultured premium seeds by the Gyeongsangnam-do Agricultural Research and Extension Services; the progress and achievements of the pilot project by the Hapcheon-gun Agricultural Technology Center; the distribution status of seed garlic by Hapcheon Eastern Agricultural Cooperative; and the current status of premium seed production at the Hapcheon Unseok Garlic Complex. Each presentation was followed by various on-site questions, indicating a high level of interest.

Meanwhile, premium seeds produced through tissue culture are attracting significant attention and expectations from farmers because they are resistant to diseases, have uniform growth, and ensure stable yields.

An official from Hapcheon-gun stated, "Through this evaluation meeting, the efficient production and distribution system for tissue-cultured garlic seeds has been further established, and the foundation for cooperation among institutions has been strengthened. We will continue to provide administrative and technical support to help increase farm income in the future."
