Ansan City, Gyeonggi Province, is recruiting students for the Hanyang University ERICA Gifted Education Center until the 23rd.

The center, jointly established by the city, the Ansan Talent Development Foundation, and Hanyang University, offers fifth and sixth grade elementary school students opportunities to explore career paths through knowledge and hands-on activities in basic science and robotics/artificial intelligence (AI).


The recruitment areas and quotas are as follows: 30 students for basic science and 30 students for robotics and AI. Duplicate applications for multiple fields are not allowed. Fifth and sixth grade elementary school students residing in Ansan as of the announcement date, as well as out-of-school youth affiliated with alternative education institutions, are eligible to apply.


The city plans to announce the successful candidates on the 12th of next month after conducting a written test and in-depth interviews with the applicants. The program will run from September to January of the following year, with classes held on weekends and during school vacations.


Students wishing to apply should submit the required documents by email during the application period. Details regarding the required documents and application guidelines can be found on the Ansan City Hall website.


Previously, on the 12th, more than 200 students and parents attended the center's entrance briefing session held in the main conference room of Ansan City Hall.


Baek Donghyun, Vice President of Hanyang University ERICA, stated, "This program is a meaningful initiative to nurture future talent together with Ansan City," and added, "We will actively support the students so that they can develop a strong interest in the field of science."


Lee Mingeun, Mayor of Ansan, said, "We will continue to prepare thoroughly for the establishment of the Gifted Education Center so that Ansan can innovate its educational paradigm and become a city that prepares for the future."
