Fire at Foreign Workers' Dormitory in Muan... 45 Evacuated, No Casualties

According to the Muan Fire Station in South Jeolla Province on July 13, a fire occurred at a foreign workers' dormitory in Cheonggye-myeon, Muan County at around 1:48 p.m. the previous day. The fire burned down a 564-square-meter steel-framed sandwich panel building, resulting in property damage estimated at approximately 81.5 million won, according to the fire department.

At the time, 45 foreign workers were staying at the dormitory. All of them evacuated on their own, and there were no casualties. They have temporarily relocated to a nearby dormitory for Korean nationals in the village.

The fire authorities believe the blaze started when heat accumulated in clothes piled up near the electrical facilities connected to the air conditioner. They are currently investigating the exact cause of the fire.
