Daejeon Waterworks Headquarters to Operate 24-Hour "Water Supply Situation Room"

Stable Tap Water Supply Maintained Even During Heat Waves and Storm Disasters in Summer

Daejeon Waterworks Headquarters to Operate 24-Hour "Water Supply Situation Room"

The Daejeon Waterworks Headquarters will operate a "Summer Water Supply Situation Room" and implement a 24-hour emergency work system to prepare for summer disasters.

The Situation Room will operate from July 14 to August 29 for a total of 47 days, in response to the seasonal surge in water usage and as part of measures to ensure the safe supply of tap water during the summer, including heat waves and storm damage. Staff from the headquarters, the Water Facilities Management Office, and five regional offices will participate.

In particular, the Situation Room will respond promptly to various situations, including handling civil complaints related to tap water, identifying and urgently repairing water pipe leaks on roads, informing citizens in the event of emergency water outages, and providing on-site support for emergency water supply, in order to prevent inconvenience to citizens in advance.

In addition, to prepare for unexpected water outages, the city has completed inspections of the bottled water production facilities at Songchon Water Purification Plant, secured reserves of bottled water at each business office, and maintained five emergency water supply vehicles that can be deployed immediately in case of an emergency, thereby ensuring a stable and reliable emergency water supply system at all times.

Lee Jongik, head of the Daejeon Waterworks Headquarters, stated, "During the summer, water usage increases by approximately 8 to 9 percent compared to the annual average. We are thoroughly preparing 24 hours a day, not only for the safety of water facilities but also for any possible emergencies," adding, "We will do our utmost to provide citizens with a stable supply of clean water."
