Sergey Lavrov, Russian Foreign Minister, who is currently visiting North Korea, paid a courtesy visit to North Korean leader Kim Jong Un on July 12.
On July 12, the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs released a photo via Telegram showing Kim Jong Un smiling and holding Lavrov's hands with both of his own, along with a statement saying, "Foreign Minister Lavrov was welcomed by Chairman Kim Jong Un."
In a video subsequently released, Kim Jong Un embraced Lavrov, referring to him as a "dear friend."
RIA Novosti reported that Lavrov conveyed a message from Russian President Vladimir Putin to Kim Jong Un, in which Putin reaffirmed his commitment to all agreements and expressed his hope to be in contact in the near future.
The Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs indicated "Wonsan, July 12," confirming that the meeting took place in Wonsan, Kangwon Province. It appears that Kim Jong Un traveled to Wonsan to meet with Lavrov.
Invited by North Korean Foreign Minister Choe Son Hui, Lavrov reportedly arrived at Wonsan Airport by private jet the previous day.
On this day in Wonsan, Lavrov held the "second strategic dialogue" meeting with Foreign Minister Choe, and is scheduled to continue his visit to North Korea until July 13.
