Leading the Digital Transformation of Agricultural Administration
Dramatic Improvement in Administrative Accessibility for Elderly Farmers Expected
Uiseong County in Gyeongbuk Province has successfully completed the pilot operation of the next-generation agricultural management information system, the "Agricultural e-ji" kiosk, which was introduced for the first time in the nation. As a result, the county is emerging as a leading basic local government in the era of digital agricultural administration.
Uiseong County in Gyeongbuk Province will be the first in the nation to pilot the Agricultural e-ji Kiosk.
On July 9, the county conducted a pilot operation to verify the on-site effectiveness and user convenience of the "Agricultural e-ji" system through the kiosk installed at the Uiseong County Agricultural Technology Center.
This case served as a pre-verification initiative, carried out for the first time nationwide, ahead of the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs' full-scale launch scheduled for July 21. As a result, it drew significant attention from local governments across the country.
On the day of the operation, local farmers directly participated, experiencing the process of inquiring about and applying for changes to agricultural management registration information. Officials from the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, the system developer, and relevant organizations also took part to assess the user experience and collect on-site feedback.
The "Agricultural e-ji" is a digital agricultural administration integrated platform equipped with various functions, including agricultural management registration, integrated management of land, income, and livestock information, customized agricultural support project recommendations, and non-face-to-face civil complaint processing.
In particular, the kiosk-based non-face-to-face application system, designed with elderly farmers and digitally vulnerable groups in mind, is expected to significantly enhance the accessibility and inclusiveness of agricultural administration services.
Kim Jusu, the governor of Uiseong County, stated, "Uiseong County was the first in the country to launch the pilot operation of the 'Agricultural e-ji' kiosk in order to help farmers, who are at risk of being marginalized by the digital transformation gap, utilize technology more easily. Going forward, we will continue to do our best to improve the efficiency of agricultural administration and realize field-oriented smart agricultural policies."
Meanwhile, Uiseong County plans to deliver system improvement suggestions to the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs based on the results of the pilot operation. The county will also actively consider expanding the use of kiosks as a model to bridge the digital divide between urban and rural areas in the future.
