This weekend, Gwangju and South Jeolla Province are expected to continue experiencing hot weather due to the influence of high pressure systems over the East Sea and West Sea. Daytime high temperatures will rise to around 35 degrees Celsius, and nighttime temperatures are also expected to exceed 25 degrees Celsius, making tropical nights likely.
According to the Korea Meteorological Administration, on Saturday, July 12, Gwangju and South Jeolla Province will be on the edge of a high pressure system located over the northern part of the East Sea. The morning low is expected to be around 21 degrees Celsius, while the daytime high will range from 31 to 35 degrees Celsius.
On the following day, Sunday, July 13, the region will be influenced by a high pressure system over the West Sea. Morning temperatures are expected to be around 24 degrees Celsius, and daytime highs will be around 34 degrees Celsius, showing a similar pattern.
An official from the Korea Meteorological Administration stated, "There will be many nights when temperatures exceed 25 degrees Celsius, raising concerns about sleep disturbances and accumulated fatigue." The official also advised, "To prevent heat-related illnesses, it is important to stay hydrated frequently and to avoid prolonged farm work or outdoor activities done alone as much as possible."
