On July 11, the Korea Industrial Complex Corporation announced that it had held the final report meeting summarizing last year's achievements of the 'Industrial Complex Open Innovation (KICXUP) Project'.

KICXUP is a project launched in 2022 with the goal of strengthening competitiveness through demand-based technology collaboration between companies located in industrial complexes and startups, and developing a global-level open platform. Last year, the project focused on refining the innovation ecosystem through structural improvements, including ▲ full-scale global technology collaboration and market entry ▲ expansion of the target to non-metropolitan industrial complexes ▲ advancement of the technology verification (PoC) performance management system.

In addition, through the Bridge Program, the corporation supported five domestic startups in entering the Japanese market by participating in the 'Innovation Leaders Summit (ILS) 2024' held in Tokyo, Japan in December last year. The program also confirmed the potential for cooperation with Japanese companies through a total of eight pre-matching sessions and 58 on-site meetings.

Furthermore, the corporation promoted the activation of regional hubs through open innovation, including the opening of a Gwangju hub in December. For technology verification (PoC), a differentiated support system based on evaluation scores was introduced to intensively foster highly executable collaboration projects.

Starting this year, the Korea Industrial Complex Corporation plans to further advance the 'Industrial Complex Open Innovation' project by introducing a new technology collaboration model tailored to address the specific challenges of each regional industrial complex, developing PoCs linked to digital transformation and carbon neutrality, and expanding strategic partnerships with global companies.
