Nominations for Hongju Cultural Award Candidates Accepted Until July 31 Hongseong County Office

On July 11, Hongseong County in South Chungcheong Province announced that it will begin accepting nominations for candidates for the "42nd Hongju Cultural Award," the county's most prestigious honor, representing the highest recognition for its residents, starting from July 14 for a period of fifteen days.


The award consists of six categories: ▲Culture and Education ▲Sports Promotion ▲Social Service ▲Regional Development ▲Agriculture and Fisheries Promotion ▲Loyalty, Filial Piety, and Courtesy. One recipient will be selected and awarded in each category. To be eligible for nomination, candidates must have resided in Hongseong County for at least two years, or be a native of Hongseong County now living elsewhere, or have worked for at least three years at an institution or organization related to Hongseong County. Heads of relevant county-level institutions or organizations, or the head of the town or township office with jurisdiction over the nominee's address (or registered address for natives living elsewhere), may submit nominations. Alternatively, nominations may also be submitted if endorsed by at least 30 local residents.


Nomination forms and supporting documents, including a statement of achievements, must be submitted in person or by mail to the Autonomy and Administration Division at the county office. After a review by the selection committee next month, the award recipients will be determined and the awards ceremony is scheduled to take place in September.

Established in 1984, the Cultural Award is regarded as the most prestigious honor in the region. Over the past 40 years, a total of 90 residents have been selected as recipients in recognition of their contributions to local community development and the promotion of regional culture, honoring their achievements.
